The Evolution of the Bathroom

In early childhood years, the bathroom is something to be conquered. Learning when and how and why to use the bathroom takes a lot of focus, and self-control! By the teen years, the bathroom is somewhere to be vain and waste time. You spend more time looking at yourself in the mirror than you do doing your homework! In this phase, it's all about you. Moving onward- the early married years. Now the bathroom is no longer about you. It's about your spouse....you curl your hair, brush your teeth, gargle, spritz perfume, and apply make-up all in an effort to appear your best to your new husband before he awakens! Life begins to pick up pace again and before you know it, the bathroom begins to collect dust. You apply your make-up in the car, forget to brush your teeth, and you've lost your perfume. You're too busy corralling your young children, running errands, and doing the laundry to spend time in the bathroom! This is when the bathroom eventually evolves into a sort of sanctuary. Now you "go to the bathroom" to escape the noise, to offer up a needy prayer, to cry privately, and finally, to pull yourself together before you come back out again. Now the bathroom begins to collect something other than dust. It is slowly being wall-papered with answered prayers, remembrances of God's grace, and memories of encouragement. This is the evolution of the bathroom.

  1. This is entirely true...and is the beginning of an encouraging, realistic, funny book much needed in the sometimes slick unrealistic Christian library of the polished woman of God. I love you...and can't wait to see MORE!!!
