Spiritual Training

It is easy for me to forget the importance of what I do as a mother. But then God gives me glances of how I am helping to shape Mia's identity, her values, her faith, her character. These glances are not huge moments, rather, they are the small opportunities of faithfulness found in each day. Like giving our neighbor a ride to work in the Texas heat. Or teaching her Bible stories and watching her love for those stories grow. Or teaching her forgiveness when a friend hits her, or takes away a toy...or even harder, teaching her forgiveness by example! Or like today, when she asked me at lunch, "Mommy, is my heart dirty or clean?" I explained to her that if Jesus was in her heart, He makes it clean for her. She asks, "Mommy, how does He make it clean?" "When Jesus died on the cross, His blood washes our hearts and makes them clean." She is satisfied. What an opportunity! I am grateful for these random yet vital windows of opportunity that God gives me. I pray that I will be faithful to use them to point Mia to Christ.
