A Ripe (and hot!) Harvest

Although statistically Kenya is 84% Christian, the people who live in the coastal area of Mombasa are less than 1% Christian. According to the Joshua Project, these people, the Digo, belong to the the least-reached people groups of the world. With over 300,000 Digo people in Kenya, and only 0.08% of them professing evangelical Christians, there is much work to be done! Surely the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Among those Digo that have heard the Gospel, only 5% heard it from a local Christian. The need is great. The need for evangelism; the need for discipleship; and the need for training indigenous Christians to lead their own people.

God has chosen to raise up our family to go to the Digo people and minister among them. We will be going out with Denton Bible Church’s sending agency, SERVE. Joe graduates from Dallas Theolgical Seminary in May of 2012, and we hope to leave soon afterwards. God has opened an opportunity for our entire family to go to Kenya this summer for a one month stint!

However, with the current spike in airfare prices, we need to raise about $10,000 for airfare, rent, and living expenses while there. We are all a part of the body of Christ- His team working for His Kingdom. How will you be a part of His Kingdom work?
